New Jersey wants to re-sign Patrick Elias. GM Lou Lamoriello said "it's a given" that he will have discussions with Elias' agent Allan Walsh before Elias can become an unrestricted free agent July 1. "We're going to stay on the same thought process," Lamoriello said. "We're going to do everything we can to sign Patrik." Walsh wouldn't discuss whether Elias, who would be one of the top forwards available, would be willing to sign before July 1 or wants to wait to see what he can command on the open market. "I never comment on any ongoing or potentially ongoing negotiations," Walsh said.
